Artwork in MacPherson MRT Station, Singapore

Area: 90m² | Year of Completion: 2017

Located between Aljunied and Paya Lebar, MacPherson in District 13 is one of five sub-zones in the Geylang planning area based on URA’s planning boundaries. Under the planning of URA, MacPherson is being rejuvenated with the innovation industry and infrastructure.

‘Trail of Thoughts’ by Aminah Mohd Sa’at (Neng) is a typographical installation made up of the voices from the residents living around Macpherson station. By turning their ordinary statements and phrases into larger-than-life typographical artwork, ‘Trail of Thoughts’ draws attention to the often-missed daily sentiments and experiences of ordinary people. The diverse ethnicity of the Macpherson neighborhood reflects through artwork rendered in Singapore’s four official languages – English, Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil. The artist invites viewers to re-discover this uniqueness through artistic typography play.

TECO fabricated and supplied 90m² of vitreous enamel artwork panels to this project at the high-traffic walkway. Vitreous enamel artwork panels can perfectly retain the images of the artwork design with no color difference and will not experience color fading. They will always stay looking aesthetically as laid for many decades with minimal cleaning maintenance.
