‘Leaves Of Time’ by Ahmad Abu Bakar

Inspired by the Umbrella trees and leaves found around the Bedok North station, the artist uses Leaves to represent life – a living matter that is not innate but dynamic, vibrant, and fresh, it will still be present many decades to come, hence the title ‘Leaves Of Time.’ The trees will no doubt bear witness to history as the communities live, bond, and grow harmoniously together with the station, playing an integral part in facilitating this union. The artwork shows the leaves falling gracefully from the trees, dancing with the winds, full of vigor and spirit, as it makes its way to being among the people, the community.

TECO fabricated and supplied 90m² of artwork vitreous enamel panels to this project, distributing within the station. Artwork vitreous enamel panels can retain image integrity and color brightness while providing an aesthetical surface. Unaffected by the environment, the enamel surfaces resist graffiti, scratches, stains, and the color will not fade over a station’s lifetime. By offering high anti-graffiti properties and hard-wearing coating, these elements combined result in a product suitable for high traffic locations.
